A Selected Place To Enjoy The Best Of New Zealand’s Cuisine

The special occasion of a 15-course dinner took place over the holiday season, when Michael and Annette Dearth, the owners of ‘The Grove,’ graciously invited a colleague and myself to dine at their high-end restaurant in Auckland, located on New Zealand’s North Island.

Originally from Connecticut, Michael, who comes from an Italian-Irish background and is a father of two, made the move to New Zealand after gaining experience in the hospitality industry, particularly in San Francisco. The restaurant is known for its serene and nature-inspired ambiance and boasts a diverse and welcoming multinational staff.

In addition, the elongated room at The Grove was visually stunning, adorned with suspended ceiling lights, natural wooden slats, and abundant greenery. The dining experience commenced with unique cocktails and showcased an array of intriguing dishes, such as smoked eel wrapped in white chocolate and salt and vinegar crisps paired with sweetbread mousse.

The menu featured a wide range of choices, including local specialties complemented by exotic herbs, before culminating in a delightful selection of desserts. The experience at The Grove was undeniably memorable and indulgent.
