Reasons Why You Should Spend The Holiday Season At Lake Como’s Villa D’Este

For one of only a few times in the iconic resort’s 150-year history, Italy’s Villa d’Este will remain open through the holidays, until January 3, 2023. Traditionally, the hotel has closed for the season in mid-November, but not this year. Santa Claus (Babbo Natale) will definitely be visiting the romantic resort located at the foot of the Italian Alps, near Italy’s silk and fashion capitals, Como and Milan.

Resplendent with fantastical and elegant holiday décor created by floral designer Vincenzo Dascanio, Villa d’Este will surprise and delight guests of all ages who have the chance to be part of a new chapter in the hotel’s history. In this enchanted setting, guests are invited to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Family-friendly cooking classes, festive afternoon teas, and other holiday experiences await.

Executive Chef Michele Zambanini has designed a range of fanciful menus including Italian holiday classics and lavish gourmet dishes. Entertainment will be provided at all festive meals.

December 24th: Christmas Eve Dinner, five courses, € 220 per person (€ 320 per person with wine pairings)

December 25th: Christmas Day Lunch, five courses, € 300 per person (€ 420 per person with wine pairings)

More than a hotel, Villa d’Este is a destination. Built in 1568 as the summer residence of Tolomeo Gallio, a wealthy Cardinal with a great passion for art, the Villa remained in his family for two decades. In 1815, it was purchased by Caroline of Brunswick, Princess of Wales and wife of King George the IV of England. The Villa was transformed into a luxury hotel in 1873 and quickly became the destination of choice for European aristocracy on their Grand Tours.
