Land Rover is venturing into new territory with its upcoming Defender model, set to feature a revolutionary “6D Dynamics” suspension system and a twin-turbo V-8 engine with electrification.
The iconic Defender lineup is known for its off-road prowess, but the new Defender OCTA aims to raise the bar even higher, promising to be the toughest, most capable, and luxurious Defender vehicle to date. The OCTA, scheduled for release later this year, will be equipped with an electrified twin-turbo V-8 engine and will showcase Land Rover’s advanced 6D Dynamics air suspension, designed to enhance stability in challenging off-road conditions through features like hydraulic interlinked dampers and height-adjustable air springs.
While specifics such as trim options and detailed engine specifications are still under wraps, enthusiasts can anticipate impressive performance from the OCTA. With the current Defender 110 boasting 518 horsepower and rumors pointing to a shared powerplant with the 2024 Range Rover Sport SV, the OCTA is poised to captivate both existing and potential Defender enthusiasts.
Previews released by JLR offer a glimpse of the distinct encircled diamond motif that will adorn various interior and exterior elements of the vehicle. Managing Director Mark Cameron explains that this graphic symbolizes the Defender’s attributes of strength, resilience, and desirability.
Ahead of its official debut, prospective buyers will have the chance to participate in exclusive previews as part of the global Defender Elements series. In the interim, the OCTA will undergo rigorous testing across diverse terrains, including Sweden, Moab, Dubai, and the Nürburgring.
