Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, And Ape Artists Joins Hand To Feature Artwork At Artexpo New York

The well-known actor Joaquin Phoenix, together with his wife, actress Rooney Mara, will display their creative abilities in a special joint project at the upcoming 47th Annual Artexpo New York. They have partnered with the non-profit organization Save the Chimps to showcase a series of paintings co-crafted by 16 skilled primates from the sanctuary. The collection, named “The Joaquin Phoenix & Rooney Mara Save The Chimps Collection,” comprises 16 acrylic-on-canvas pieces priced between $5,000 and $10,000.

This collaborative initiative among Phoenix, Mara, and the chimp artists is intended to generate funds for Save the Chimps, a retirement home for chimpanzees in Florida. These paintings, blending base layers by the famous couple with the distinctive brushwork of the ape artists, will be exhibited at Pier 36 in Manhattan. Private collectors such as Pink, Sir Paul McCartney, and Pamela Anderson support Save The Chimps.

In a joint statement, Phoenix and Mara emphasized their desire that the artwork will promote awareness of the intelligence and creativity of chimpanzees. The inaugural collection, presented by Redwood Art Group, is predicted to increase in value due to the rising demand for celebrity art pieces. Moreover, FedEx Cares has kindly sponsored the shipping of the paintings for the exhibition.

Artexpo New York, a prominent event in the art industry, will be hosting this distinctive collection from April 4-7. The show will provide attendees with the opportunity to not only purchase a signed painting from the celebrity couple but also visit the sanctuary and interact with the ape artists in person. With more than 200 publishers, galleries, and collectors expected to be present, Artexpo New York guarantees a wide array of artwork for art enthusiasts to appreciate.
